Phone (2) is the second smartphone from the very young smartphone brand Nothing. It was the much hyped smartphone at its launch but because of incompetent pricing, it did not perform as well as it should have. But based on current pricing and offers, it is a very good deal. Before deciding, let's have look at specifications and features of the Nothing Phone (2).

Performance:

Nothing Phone (2) is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen+1 chipset. The GPU is Adreno 730. Along with this the phone comes with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 Storage, ensuring fast and smooth experience. The chipset is powerful enough to handle anything you through at it.

Display:

The display of the Nothing Phone (2) is a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display. It comes with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate and 1,600 nits of peak Brightness. The display is protected with the Corning Gorilla glass 5.

Camera:

The Nothing Phone (2) packs a dual camera setup in the back, featuring a 50MP primary sensor which comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and another 50MP sensor for Ultrawide photos. The front camera is of 32MP. After the recent updates, all the sensors capture decent images. The main sensor supports upto 4k@60FPS video recording.

Battery and Charging:

The Nothing Phone (2) is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery. It supports 45 watts of PD 3.0 charging and 15 watts of wireless charging. Battery last full day on a single charge on normal uses and can be recharged from 0% to 100% within 55 minutes. The Phone (2) also supports 5 watt reverse wireless charging.

Software:

The Nothing Phone (2) comes with NothingOS 2.0 based on Android 13, out of the box. The phone got multiple updates after the launch and Nothing has started rolling out Oxygen OS 2.5 based Android 14 recently. Nothing has fixed most of the bugs through these updates and made some major improvement in camera performance. Based on tech community's response it is safe to say the NothingOS is currently the smoothest OS based on Android.

Color options:

The Nothing Phone (2) comes in following two colors:

  • Black (Dark Grey)
  • White

Additional Features:

Completing the package are features like the Stereo Speakers, IP54 rating and Optical In-display fingerprint scanner. Don't forget the Glyph Interface, the unique feature of the Nothing smartphones. Some say that these lights are just gimmicks but a good amount of people love this unique feature. The Glyph Interface is actually usable in real life scenarios such as it works as charging and volume level indicator. You can shake it to get battery level information. You can set different lights for different contact and notifications. It also works with timer and 3rd party Apps such as Uber showing progress tracker for upcoming ride. You can create your own pattern as well. If you like it, there are a lot of use cases. But if you don't then you can just turn of the glyph interface and use the Phone as normal smartphone.

Conclusion:

Nothing Phone (2) is a feature packed, powerful and complete smartphone. Except camera department, it excels in every other department. In Camera department, the phone 2 cannot be compared with Flagships from other brands. But based on current price level, the camera is decent in this price range.
